The 1st Puyallup Elks Lodge Meatloaf Competition and Dinner was a great success.
Five meatloaf chefs presented their creations to about 40 diners at the first annual Meatloaf Competition on September 23, 2022.
Past Exalted Ruler Chuck Tibbs took home the golden spatula with his beef and Italian sausage meatloaf. Lecturing Knight Jeremie Nielson came in second. Exalted Ruler Steve Scholz was in the middle of the pack, and Dave Weldon and Tiler Sue Davis (with a vegetarian loaf!) brought up the rear.
Organized by Dave Weldon with assistance from his lovely wife, Cyndie, a big crew of volunteers made side dishes and helped serve and conduct the festivities, which included meatloaf trivia and a dessert bar.
Mike Nordstrom served as MC, and four eager judges sampled the offerings before the audience voted.
